This coming Sunday will be our ministry kick-off, or "Sign-up Sunday."
It is a time when we ask those who are a part of our church community to think about ways they can contribute their time to help our ministries function. Sometimes this can feel like a bit of a guilt trip. It feels like one more institution making us feel bad for not doing enough for that institution.
Sometimes that happens because we forget the institution exists to serve us. We don't exist to serve the institution.
As Paul wrote to the Ephesians.
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:11–12, TNIV)
We must never lose sight of this purpose.
At the last Leadership meeting, we decided to adopt a simple framework to help guide our work. Something which can help us remember our ministries exist to serve the congregation. It is called the Purpose - Way - Impact
Our Purpose- To help everyone connected to Fleetwood CRC be who God is calling them to be.
Our Way- We do this by creating environments where people experience the love of Christian community (Belong), understand their identity in Jesus (Believe), and live out that identity in their everyday lives (Become).
Our Impact- We long to see a movement of Jesus followers living Spirit led lives of impact as they walk with our community.
Our prayer is that God uses everything we do to equip you to be the people God is calling you to be, and do the things God is calling you to do.
So... How can we help?
